Objectives: The objective of the dining etiquette session was to teach BHM 1st, 2nd, and 3rd semester students about the basics of dining etiquette, including dos and don’ts while dining in formal settings. The aim was to equip students with knowledge that would help them present themselves professionally in social situations.
Learning: During the dining etiquette session, Ms. Ishani Shrestha taught the students about various aspects of dining etiquette. The session covered topics such as how to behave courteously with restaurant staff, waiting to eat until everyone has received their food, letting the employer take the lead in ordering, taking small bites, and beginning with the outermost silverware pieces in a formal table setting. The students also learned about the proper way to fold and place a napkin during and after a meal, how to address the host or hostess, and how to show appreciation for the meal.
Outcomes: The session helped the students understand the importance of proper dining etiquette in professional settings. They gained knowledge about the basic rules of dining, which will enable them to conduct themselves professionally in formal settings. The session was interactive and helped the students to learn by example through Ms. Shani Shrestha's demonstration of proper dining etiquette. The students gained confidence in their ability to present themselves professionally in social situations, which will be an asset in their future careers. Overall, the dining etiquette session was informative, productive, and an essential learning experience for the BHM students.
