Social Camp 2080 to Chitlang

Objectives: The "Social Camp 2080" trip to Chitlang for BBA and BHM 3rd Semester students on 15th and 16th June, 2023, had several key objectives. Firstly, it aimed to provide students with practical exposure outside the classroom, enabling them to gain hands-on learning experiences. Secondly, the trip focused on fostering team-building and collaborative skills among students through group activities and engagement with the local community. Thirdly, the camp aimed to create awareness about social issues and community development, encouraging students to understand the socio-economic dynamics of the region. Lastly, it aimed to enhance students' leadership qualities and decision-making abilities through real-world interactions and experiences.

Learning: On the first day, students explored renowned places in Chitlang, delving into the rich cultural and natural heritage of the region. Visits to the Chitlang Village and historic temples like the Shiva Temple provided insights into local customs and architectural significance. The second day involved a socio-economic survey, allowing students to respectfully interact with the community, gather data, and understand their challenges and aspirations. This practical learning experience enriched their cultural sensitivity, teamwork skills, and research abilities. The collected data became the foundation for further analysis and discussions, contributing to a deeper understanding of the socio-economic realities of the local community.

Outcomes: The "Social Camp 2080" trip to Chitlang was a resounding success, achieving its objectives. Students returned with valuable insights and experiences, enhancing their knowledge beyond textbooks. The trip's immersive nature facilitated cultural understanding, and engagement with the community created awareness about social issues. Students developed teamwork skills, improved their leadership qualities, and honed decision-making abilities through real-world interactions. The collected data from the socio-economic survey will pave the way for future discussions and initiatives aimed at community development. Overall, the camp provided a holistic learning experience, empowering students to apply their knowledge and skills in practical settings, and fostering a sense of social responsibility.
